Thanks, Todd for the answer on the diaphragms and for the 802G-II's measured performance. It is very helpful for the average DIYer, and it's unfortunate most other manufacturers don't publish their drivers' responses.

Not to push my luck...but any chance you could measure and publish the same for a vintage 802-8G??

    Hi Marshall,

Bill's got them on eBay for $248.00 each, which is essentially the same. His shipping cost is listed for $19.87 each, which may be less, depending on where you live, so I would recommend buying them directly from GPA. That said, you'd probably save the $2 difference in buying them directly just in the shipping, but I can't be sure.

Buying direct also gives Bill a little more return, too, as eBay doesn't get their cut, which Bill uses to reinvest in the business (like buying the 12" Altec frame, which he just did - you don't want to know what Bosch/EV wanted for the tooling).

Once I can get some measuring equipment I plan to measure a pair of Brand new 33952/802G's with the vintage 23744 in them that have never been used and still in original shipping/packing material.I will post it.But I don't know when that will be as i have none of the equipment at the moment. But I don't plan on using them until I can get them measured up. I have a new project on my plate at the moment so I will have to get the measuring equip.ASAP :2thumbsup:

Here?s my vintage 802-8g with a new GPA 34647 diaphragm on a modified 511 horn.

    altec802g

I?m reposting this also to correct an off-axis labeling error in my earlier post. The corrected axis are 0 (red) , 37 (white) , and 52 (grey)? [ not 0, 30, 45 degrees. ]

Unfortunately I removed the sectoral fins from my 511s before I had measuring equipment, so I don?t know to what extent that that contributes to the rough off-axis HF response.

I think for a DIY home project, I would investigate mating the 802g to a horn/waveguide that has a smoother off-axis HF response? or perhaps go three-way and cross the 511 over to a high-efficiency tweeter.
